GlobalFest

GlobalFest showcases the heritage of more than 60 cultures with a variety of events and activities that celebrate Calgary’s diversity and support cross-cultural respect, not to mention light up the sky with some amazing fireworks! For the fifth year, both the GlobalFest OneWorld and Trico Homes International Fireworks Festivals will take place at the same location: Elliston Park in East Calgary.

Platinum Fireworks Inc. is back for GlobalFest's 10th Anniversary Celebration! As the recipient of GlobalFest 2011's People's Choice Award for their Manny Pacquiao inspired pyromusical presentation, the Filipino team has constructed a fireworks display for 2012 that focuses on humanity's collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the environment. "An Ode to Earth" is structured into three segments: Segment 1) Strophe – "The Creation", Segment 2) Antistrophe – "The Destruction", and finally Segment 3) Epode – "The Healing".

With "Fiesta", GlobalFest 2012 marks the very first time that Lux Pirotecnia has decided to create a sound track based on traditional Mexican music for an international presentation. Patrons will enjoy a "Fiesta Mexicana!" where they will be brought to a festive atmosphere that combines traditional music, modern rhythms, and classical tunes in between. With the use of technology, Lux Pirotecnia joins the marvel of fireworks with the tradition and music of Mexican folklore. Lux Pirotecnia believes that although fireworks are amazing by themselves, by combining them with vision, objective, and musical artistry, incredible results will be achieved.

Vulcan Display Fireworks Ltd. was established in 1974 and is one of the pioneer companies in the modern Chinese fireworks industry. Being able to manufacture all the fireworks that are used in their displays, the company has the ability to customize their products to suit each show and venue. Vulcan's team of choreographers and craftsmen work together to produce shows that capture the audiences' suspense and excitement. "East & West Fandango" will feature plenty of red --the national colour of China--, a dense multicolour water carpet, and a rhythmic blend of Chinese and Western-themed music.

By bringing their emotions to the audience with performances catered to each event, Vision Show executes pyrotechics in a very special way. Vision Show aims to surprise its audience with pyrotechnical innovations in technology and artistry; by displaying a passion for their craft, Vision Show is able to create "paintings in the sky". Vision Show hopes that Calgarians will enjoy the Brazilian music and fireworks show created specifically for GlobalFest 2012. They hope that the best known songs will encourage patrons to get up and dance while enjoying "Tropicalia"!

Pyrotecnico brings you a full throttled, high energy show set to modern American Pop and Rock n' Roll. The display will be action packed with a vast array of unique and innovative effects and imagery. Music and motion will blend effortlessly as your heart pounds to the chest-thumping shockwaves from above in perfect sync with some of today's most popular hits.

After 120 years of innovation, Pyrotecnico remains a frontrunner in applying the newest and most exciting fireworks technology to never before seen ways of show design and choreographed timing. In 1889, Constantino Vitale started his fireworks company in Pietramelara, Italy before immigrating to the United States in 1920. Since then, five different generations of the Vitale family have grown Constantino's company by training new staff in the old family ways.

Illuminating the world's skies for over 25 years, Patrick has become one of Canada's most renowned fireworks designers on the global stage. His many titles for breathtaking displays have earned him respect and envy throughout the industry. Having extensive knowledge of both the manufacturing and display aspects of pyrotechnics, Patrick is able to create and deliver the artistically unthinkable. Patrick's global contacts and ability to communicate in many languages help ensure his success no matter where he performs.

Patrick has worked on world-class events such as the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, FIFA World Cup, and F1 Racing. He has competed and won esteemed industry competitions such as the Shanghai International Fireworks Competition, Malaysia International Competition, and "Symphony of Fire" Fireworks Competition in Canada. Additionally, Patrick has directed and been head of logistics for many large scale events including the "Celebration of Lights" in Vancouver and Les Grands Feux Loto-Quebec in Quebec City.
