The Marda Gras Street Festival has tons to see and do. Bring down your whole family for a day of fun!
Each year on the second Sunday in August, the streets of Marda Loop come alive with the New Orleans-themed Marda Gras Street Festival. This is a free public event.
Schedule of Events
From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm thousands of Calgarians and visitors will fill the decorated Marda Loop to experience the culture and cuisine of New Orleans. There is free entertainment for kids of all ages.
The music of New Orleans, jazz, rhythm, blues and zydeco music will fill the streets, and street level acts and a variety of cultural performers will provide entertaining spectacles.

What to Expect
Start the party by biking down, decorating your bike and being a part of the first ever bike parade. Then get your toes tapping with amazing jazz bands and colourful dance performances! Or you can catch a street performance by the high flying Ariel Angels, the talented Jimbo, and the amazing Figo straight from the UK.
Next, stop off at the Shine FM Kids Zone. It’s perfect for kids of all ages with games, crafts, face-painting, bouncy houses, activities and more! And just because it’s summer doesn’t mean the end of hockey season! Get a team together and join the Street Hockey Tournament. They aren’t leaving out the family pets either. Dress them up and show them off at the Second Annual Pet Pageant.
With so much to do you’ll work up an appetite, so check out the Jambalaya Cook-Off competition, sample the spicy selections and vote for your favorite recipe! The YYCFoodTrucks will be out in full force as well with a Food Truck Frenzy. You can also stop off at one of many patios and sit down to soak up
the sun.
