Seekers Media launches most ambitious video production project to date, including TELUS SnowSeekers TV, Season 2
Capturing the legendary spirit of 19 ski resorts and the communities
they call home
EDMONTON – A greatly expanded Season 2 of SnowSeekers TV is coming to viewers, thanks to support from TELUS OptikTM Local Community Access Programming. Production starts in mid-January. Seekers Media has retained veteran short-form video producer Chris Wheeler as Director of Photography. Cinematographer Kalum Ko, a 2013 Banff Film Festival winner, complements the production team with guaranteed eye-popping imagery.
In its first year, winter 2013-14, Seekers Media produced six destination episodes of SnowSeekers TV with support from TELUS. “This season the production expands to cover nineteen destinations across Alberta and B.C.,” says Jim Barr, executive producer for the production and Seekers Media CEO.
Six ski resort and destination features in Alberta and 13 in British Columbia will feature legendary characters who make each ski resort unique plus local musicians will talk about their top après spots. A special community feature showcasing the ‘wow’ factor rounds out the ski resort coverage, adding context to the city, town or village where the resort is located.
TELUS Optik TV subscribers have access to SnowSeekers’ programming for free on-demand where each episode is presented in a longer format. Content shot in winter 2015 will be available on TELUS fall 2015. Season 1 is available now as featured TELUS content.
SnowSeekers’ website features short-form video segments generated from the production. Around 100 short-form videos showcasing B.C. and Alberta’s winter destinations are to be featured on SnowSeekers over the coming year.
The production also supports the Canadian Tourism Commission’s #SkiCanadaNow initiative and other local interests specific to each destination.
