Get back to Baldy with the First Chair Festival, December 1-4th, 2016

Bring everyone—your kids, your parents, your grandma—to sip hot chocolate around the fire pits, listen to some great bands, sample some of Firehall Brewery’s finest, and even watch a film premiere! To thank you for joining in on the ski festival, enjoy tons of give away prizes, including special goodies set aside for those who dress up like it’s 1968 (like free skiing on Sunday!). It’s a “Wander-land” of Festivals

Start the season with a trio of festivals

You know about the First Chair Festival at Baldy Mountain Resort but the valley has a fanfare of festivals to celebrate the season.

Wander through the festive trees

Everyone including the Grinch loves a sparkling tree covered in decorations celebrating the season. While you are enjoying the First Chair Festival at Baldy Mountain Resort, make sure you wander through the pop-up forest of festive trees near the day lodge. It’s all a part of the annual Festival of Trees hosted by hotels and resorts throughout the Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country. The festival runs from November 25 – January 4th, 2017.

After your day of riding through the glades, stop by one of the other free festive forests inside local venues including Nk’Mip Cellars Winery, Watermark Beach Resort, Frank Venables Theatre and the Barrel Tree of Hope. There will be at least 40 trees with different themes or maybe no theme at all! A minimum donation of a toonie will help your favourite best dressed tree win the event. Proceeds from the Festival of Trees go to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation in support of the Excellence in Child Health Fund.

Wander through the silent auction

The Watermark Beach Resort is also hosting a silent auction to raise funds for the BC Hospitality Foundation which supports hospitality workers in times of crisis. Stop in a few times to make sure your bid stays at the top.

When: November 25 – January 4th

Where: Nk’Mip Cellars Winery, Watermark Beach Resort, Frank Venables Theatre and Baldy Mountain Resort.

Why: Vote for your favourite tree with a small donation. The proceeds go to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Bid at the Silent Auction at Watermark Beach Resort. The funds raised will go to the BC Hospitality Foundation

Display times:

Nk’Mip Cellars Winery 10am to 5pm daily

Watermark Beach Resort 8am to 11pm daily

Frank Venables Theatre 5:30 to 8pm daily

Baldy Mountain Resort Daily

Admission: Free (donations warmly welcomed)

Keep wandering to the wineries

Who says you can’t do wine tastings in the winter? Obviously, nobody in the Oliver Osoyoos Wine Region! From November 26th to December 4th take a stroll through the tasting rooms at close to 20 local wineries. Tour on your own or take a tour offered by Okanagan Experience Tours/Top Cat Tours.

Details and the participating wineries from A to Z are listed here: http://www.oliverosoyoos.com/Events/Winter-in-Wine-Country#Winery Tours
