March is shaping up to be a busy month as Festival Nanaimo gets underway, featuring dozens of events from March 1 to April 2.

For starters, the festival has a lineup of EIGHT Festival Nanaimo "Signature Events" at venues all around the city - from concerts to theatre, food tastings, cycling and walking tours and sporting events. But then there are the not-so-typical but popular events events like the PirateFest and Hops & Hounds.

Signature events

March 1, 2017 - KIRAN AHLUWALIA 
JUNO award-winning artist Kiran Ahluwalia's brings her unique Afro-Indian sound to Nanaimo. You'll be hooked by her hypnotic voice paired with western and African desert blues instrumentations.

March 2, 2017 - THE CELTIC TENORS
Get your pre-St. Paddy's Day Irish on. You might even shed a tear or two when the trio of tenors does their moving rendition of Danny Boy.

March 25, 2017 - THE LION THE BEAR THE FOX
If you haven't already heard about this naturally talented rockin' trio, here's your chance. Come  celebrate their release “Battle Of Me” from their new self-titled debut album.

Arrgh mateys. Grab your eye-patch and your sword for five days of bucaneering shenanigans. The Purple Pirate is back. Bring the family for a fun all-ages adventure as award-winning children's performer Dustin Anderson sails back into Nanaimo for a show at the Port Theatre during PirateFest 2017. Country Club Centre is PirateFest Headquarters from March 21-24 with free activities all week. PirateFest Day is officially on March 25, starting at noon with a parade downtown, prizes and activities at the Nanaimo Museum, the Harbourfront Library and The Port Theatre.
