Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park hosts an entertaining festival each summer and after more than 30 years it is more popular than ever. The four-day event invites 130 artists from the island and Canada to entertain and sell unique crafts, jewellery, pottery, textiles and art. Kids in tow always head first to the Enchanted Forest for face painting, story-telling, crafts and games. And everyone enjoys the array of food trucks that pull in from all parts of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

Two stages are set up to host 15 bands and solo artists throughout the festival. Patrons are invited to pull up a chair and listen to old favourites of the folk scene, jazz performances and so much more.

The nine-acre Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park was once a luxurious estate but is now a breathtaking waterfront park with landscaped gardens and shady trees in the heart of Comox. The funds raised from the annual event help maintain the pristine setting.

Featured Artist

This year, the Filberg Festival is pleased to have Robert Held as the featured artist. Robert Held Art Glass was born in 1987. Since then, the company has grown to become Canada’s largest hot glass studio and the line is carried in major museum stores, large retailers and galleries of all sizes.

Using techniques that date back 2000 years, Robert Held Art Glass continues to inspire and amaze, including our new Crucible line of collectible vases crafted with dichroic glass and 24-carat-gold leafing. Robert’s glasswork graces the tables of royalty and his glass sculptures can be found in major collections such as the Roland Michener and the Indusman. Check out his portfolio.

Entertainment Schedule

Along with beautiful art, the Filberg Festival is one of the best weekends to check out local and not-so-local talent on Vancouver Island. The park is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday - Sunday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Monday.

Check the Filberg Festival webpage for the list of artists but here are some daily highlights to tempt you to go.

The Garden Stage sees the day start with The Fortunate Ones while the Comox Stage breaks out at 11:00 a.m. with Bellflower followed by Great Lake Swimmers at 12:30 p.m. Don’t worry about moving your chairs to the other stage, most artists will play both stages before the final act at 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 31

The music starts up again on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Various artists will entertain throughout the day. Don’t forget to get up from the lawn chair to wander through the venders of arts and crafts and of course the food trucks.
