Banff National Park is the cool place to be this winter – in more ways than one! Celebrate the wonders of this exciting season with SnowDays, a fun-filled month of heart pumping, mid-week activities and weekend festivals jam-packed with adventures of all kinds.

Medicine Hat's Tongue on the Post Festival is Alberta's winter folk festival held at Medalta Potteries and other venues around the city. 

The International Ice Carving Competition kicks off the festival, as 10 teams of ice carvers create icy masterpieces. For the 10 festival days expect lots of outdoor fun. There will be ice and snow exhibits, an interactive children's play area, the famous giant ice slide and much more.

The Canmore Winter Carnival celebrates the season and and has been a tradition locals and out-of-towners for more than 20 years. The 2016 event is shaping up to be the biggest yet. Two World Cup events will be part of the carnival along with 45 days of events, including ice carving, snow sculpting and the popular Snowy Owl Kid N Mutt races, just to name a few. 

You may not remember the ‘60s – or weren’t even born yet – but you’re guaranteed to have a groovy time at the 60th Vernon Winter Carnival happening Feb. 7 – 16, 2020. 

The Powell River Film Festival is a celebration of visual arts and cinema, screening multi-genre films from around the world hosted at the historic Patricia Theatre in Powell River on Feb 8-17th.

The City of Cold Lake, 4 Wing Cold Lake and Municipal District of Bonnyville's Kinosoo Ridge have come together to present Snow Fever on Family Day weekend.

Take a few very talented freestyle smowmobilers, some X-Games medalists, add just enough wild snowboarders to amaze the crowds. Then add a few rock bands, some food trucks and a dump truck load of pyrotechnics to complete the event and you got yourself the CBK-X Winter Blitzville Festival. Ka-Boom! Family Day Weekend in Cranbrook just got a wake-up call!

The WinterPLAY Festival is a three-day gathering celebrating winter fun in northern Alberta. Head to Snye Park in Fort McMurray to see beautiful ice sculptures, fireworks and take part in family-friendly activities and entertainment.

With car racing, snowmobile drags, and motorcycle and quad races, this is a family event with lots to see and do throughout the whole weekend.
