PeaceFest is an annual music festival and fair held in Peace River, Alberta that started in 1997 after floods devastated the town. Originally called "We're Back," this festival was created to let Albertans know that Peace River was not ruined by the flood but was rebuilding and coming back better and stronger than ever.
In 1998 the name was changed to "PeaceFest" and the festival continues to be one of the biggest and most exciting events in the Peace River region, drawing thousands of people each year.
For more information on the history of PeaceFest see the "History" tab in the left-hand menu.
Weekend Events
PeaceFest consists of a concert of generally alternative music on Friday night along with a town fair. The Main Street of the town is blocked off to set up for the next day’s events. Saturday is set aside for many of the community’s organizations, clubs and volunteer groups to set up on the main street and promote themselves and their goals. Saturday night includes the second concert incorporating local music and then a big name act.
