Queen of the Peak

Tofino is the surfing capital of Canada and hosts the annual women's surfing championship on either Cox Bay or Chestermans Beach depending on weather. It's an event made to showcase and celebrate the female surf talent on the west coast.

Participants compete for cash and prizes in the longboard and shortboard categories. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Keep A Breast Foundation.

Check out all the action from the beach, with heats running through Saturday and Sunday throughout the day, wrapping up with a dance party Sunday night.

Event weekend

Pre-competition weekend events start Sept 22, and run through the weekend, to get you primed for the event. 

Sept 22  Blue Crush movie night
Sept 25  Welcome reception (competitors only)
Sept 26  Lucky Logger Invitational (limited invitational open)
Sept 27  Round 1, quarter- & semi-finals and finals
Sept 28  Quarter, semi and finals, wrap up dance party

For those who can't make it to Tofino, there will be livestreaming of the event (see more info).

Getting there
Carpooling and alternate modes of transportation are encouraged as parking on site is limited. There will be some food, drinks, and merchandise available to purchase on site. Categories are: Longboard, Shortboard, Princess of the Peak (for 16 yrs and younger), and Masters.

The Masters division for women 40 years and older has a different contest format. Contestants compete in a 20 minute heat as a collective unit and for every succesful wave rode a donation will be made to the Keep A Breast Foundation.

Organizers have made this the ultimate female-friendly sport event with free child care and dog sitting services as well as a complimentary massage tent for the competitors.
