Silver Star, BC  So you think you know BC craft beer? Well, until you've met the brewers themselves in the intimate, alpine setting of SilverStar Mountain Resort, you may be missing part of the story.

"When you take the time to come to Silver Star's Beer and Cider Fest, you learn the local stories and meet craft brewers and cider makers of this area," explains Meaghan Zaichkowsky, co-founder of North Okanagan-based Ricochet Brewery.

"And you might just walk away finding your next favourite beverage!"

Zaichkowsky sums up the experience, "People care about our story, they take the time to ask the questions, they want to ask the stories about our business. They are not there to rush around, rather to spend the time to sample and get to know us."

"I have been to other large festivals that are very spread out and as a vendor, this is really nice, as the vibe is fun and the goal is easy: to simply have a good time in this charming village setting served up with fresh mountain air," explains Lindsay Wong of Salmon Arm's Shuswap Cider Co, another Silver Star Beer and Cider Fest vendor.

Shuswap Cider Co.'s Lindsay Wong praises the festival's "intimate alpine setting."

Whether it's Shuswap Cider or Ricochet Brewing, both vendors bring local connections given they source their product from farms across the North Okanagan. Berries, local roasted coffee and/or local apples make up their offerings.

The festival serves up not just connections to local producers of beer and cider but to over a dozen farms in the area as well.

"It's an important time to support local," says Zaichkowsky.

Set mid-mountain, the festival offers adventure and apres in a friendly format.

'If I didn't have to race around to all these events introducing people to our product, I would be hanging out and hiking, biking and listening to live music—staying a while up at Silver Star, like three nights plus," adds Wong.

"But in the meantime, I will let everyone else go and do that and I will be there to help get them to the party!"

Wong recommends spending a little extra time enjoying alpine adventures while attending Beer and Cider Fest.

With 70 km of purpose-built bike trails, 16km of hiking trails and a gondola running all summer, you can hike or bike your way into the festival as well.
