Paddle the Peace
Aug 16, 2025
Join over 100 paddlers on the water or stand along the water's edge and take in the sights of the Paddle the Peace festival.
"It's the only one of its kind in Northern Alberta," says Amber Houle, event organizer. "This event is special as transportation is included, with lunch and music performers. You can enjoy peace of mind with sweepers and safety boats patrolling the water, making it easy for first-time and family paddlers in a safe environment."
All you need to do is confirm you want to attend, and you can have a kayak or canoe waiting for you upon arrival. But you better hurry, as Houle explains, spots are filling fast for this annually sold-out paddling fest.
Paddle a piece of the Peace River, knowing that if you really wanted to, anyone could make a full multi-night adventure along this river. Mighty Peace Tourism can support your adventure with a waterproof guidebook and Peace River Adventures can help you with rentals (canoe, kayak, paddleboard or raft) for your Peace River paddling excursions during the festival or any time.
The Peace River is an easy river to introduce yourself to paddling, and the festival makes it easy to try for the first time and connect with other likeminded paddlers!
Harvest Moon Festival, Grimshaw Alberta
Sept 13, 2025
Check out this music festival featuring an open-air market, agricultural-themed events (including a pie competition, see below) and beer gardens, all under the full moon, as Dani Weardon explains
"It has usually worked out where you are dancing under a full moon and can see the moon coming up over the stage," explains Weardon, the event's social media manager.
The one day/night annual Festival celebrates the harvest season and the agricultural culture across Mighty Peace, so Weardon encourages you to come hungry!
By day events are free, and include a car show, kids area, a scarecrow competition and an outdoor market. Then stay for a ticketed street party at night and rock out with local bands and guaranteed a whole slew of new friends.
"Last year sold out before the date of the dance, so you want to get your tickets early," says Weardon.
We're too late to get you into the Corn Eating competition as it's full, but you can enter your pie or jam for best in class here.
Or for the full event details, check out Mighty Peace Tourism's event listing.
