Fest across Highway 3

Connect Castle Mountain, Fernie, Kimberley and Nelson along the Crowness Pass Highway, or Highway 3 … and what do you discover?

Well, if it's later March and early April—you find one hell of a good time. It’s spring festival season along Highway 3! Here’s a round up to get on the calendar.

Fernival, Fernie BC

Head to Fernival for concerts in the alpine at Fernie Alpine Resort.

This year’s headliner, Shred Kelly, ensures the stoke folk factor will be high for this annual music festival celebrating the season’s end.

Shred Kelly is based in Fernie, so expect a high energy show paired with slope-side shenanigans including the Slope Soaker pondskimming contest, all at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Fernival's Slope Soaker contest is a highlight, with snowboarders and skiers attempting to skim a pool at the bottom of the ski run. Costumes encouraged!

Ten minutes from downtown Fernie, the resort will be charged up under the sun, suds in hand, rocking out to Shred Kelly, with the Hark Raving Sirens April 11, and Liquid Science April 12.

Beats in the Base, Caslte Mountain, AB

Three weekends of beats drop in the base village for the final three weekends of the Castle Mountain Resort season.

Always punching above its weight in terms of stoke is the boutique beauty, Castle Mountain. Through April, they offer a series of musical acts for four straight weekends, Mar 15-Apr 5, free for those who wanna get their groove on in the snow. (LIFT PASS REQUIRED??)

North Star Day, Kimberley, BC

Ski ballet, costume finery and fun across the mountain for North Star Day at Kimberly.

With retro ski fashion, best-dressed dog contest, ski ballet and concerts, the action on the hill for North Star Day at Kimberley Alpine Resort will fill your ski boots.

Plus the town of Kimberley BC has always had some really quality night gazing potentials considering the low light pollution.

Night in the village at Kimberley Alpine Resort.

Round out your weekend by getting out under the stars in Kimberley March 28-29 to experience some alpine-themed hospitality, including a skiable history tour of the mountain or some “ski synchro”.

Splash Cup / Ymir Wiggle, Whitewater Mountain Resort

Get into the wild west at Whitewater for its closing weekend, filled with fun races and themed events.

Drop in April 4-5 for Whitewater’s Splash Cup for a quality dose of good times.

Skiers and riders get creative in how they are going to tackle the skim pond – with DJ’s delivering the beats to keep things funky. Part two features the Ymir Wiggle, a western-themed dual banked slalom.

Experience this authentic independent scene, by first reading up on why Whitewater stands in a class all its own.
