Art in the Park

Enjoy a fun filled day for the whole family at the Vermilion Heritage Park (5320- 50 Avenue). Have a free lunch, cinnamon buns baked in a community oven, painting class, art talents, displays, face painting, and artisan exhibitors. Centered in the heart of Vermilion, there are many activities that can be enjoyed during this action packed weekend.

While the artists rely on their inner Monet or Van Gogh to create new masterpieces, the kids become canvases for face-painters. There will also be live music, exhibitors and fresh baked goodies.

Art in the Park Vermilion

Painting Classes

($35 + gst / person):  Bring your friends, enjoy an adult beverage ($4/drink) and experience painting in relaxed, no pressure environment, with guidance from local artist, Monica To. All is supplied, you just need to show up! Classes are taking place in the Vermilion Senior’s Centre. Two classes are being offered: “Mimosa Masterpieces” starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 12 p.m. and “Cab Sav & Canvases” starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 4 p.m. All ages welcome.

Art Competition

($25 + gst / 1-2 pieces of artwork): Theme: “The Power of Magic” – As long as humanity has had beliefs in deities, the supernatural, and the use of magic, spells, and curses have featured widely across cultures and storytelling alike. What art piece can you “conjure?”

All artists enter completed 2D works in all types of media. For the $25 fee, you can submit 1 or 2 pieces. You may enter more than once, but fee registration must be completed each additional time.  $250 prize for the first place artwork.

The Man Van

The MAN VAN, sponsored by Inter Pipeline, will also be present at the Art in the Park from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Canada’s first and only mobile men’s health clinic, offering free PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood testing for men aged 40-80. One in seven men in Alberta will be affected by prostate cancer. When detected early it is very treatable. A PSA blood test from your family doctor or a 10 minute trip to the MAN VAN can aid in early detection. There is no appointment necessary.
