March 16 is a big day in this northern Alberta city with two major events taking place – the Race of Vermilion and the Beckie Scott Loppet. Both events are competitive and both are fun.

Events include a parade, trade show, animal judging, pony chuckwagon and chariot races, entertainment and agricultural/horticultural displays. Each year several thousand exhibitors showcase their talents in a friendly competitive spirit.
