Canada Day in Alberta is filled with celebration! As is tradition, Albertans will gather to celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of Canada at locations across the province, from Grande Prairie to Edmonton, Banff, Calgary, Vermilion and beyond.  

There are so many great events happening so we picked a few to help you find the right event for you this Canada Day, or maybe Canada Weekend if you are feeling adventurous! 

Canada Day events in Alberta

Here are six stellar events happening on Canada Day across Alberta.

Celebration of Vermilion & Multiculturalism / Vermilion
Get Canada Day started early in Vermilion! This festival happens June 26, from an epic water battle on main street to the Taste of Vermilion, with live music, food and Indigenous dancing, this is one epic day to be in Vermilion. 

Canada Day in the Rockies / Banff
Spend Canada Day in Canada's first national park, in iconic Banff from 10am-9pm, with a full day of programs including Indigenous cultural performances and story telling, belly dances and Beau Valley Circus—Banff's own circus troupe!

Magnificent River Rats Festival / Athabasca, Alberta
For over 30 years this festival has been an Alberta mainstay, featuring a weekend of live music on the banks of the Athabasca River. Athabasca's combo of nature, history and Canadian musical acts will have you feeling very much Canadian here.

The Magnificent River Rats Festival celebrates Canada Day with three days of live music in Athabasca.

Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration / Edmonton 
Children activities early in the day, entertainment and food trucks through the afternoon and evening, and fireworks at 11pm. This event is free, but food bank donations are being collected for those that want to support local food banks.

Canada Day Celebrations / Calgary 
Pow wows, street vendors, live music, and more await you in Calgary on Canada Day this year as part of a free celebration for Calgarians and visitors in downtown Calgary. Concert lineup includes Matt Mays, Joanna Magik and Keys n Krates! Get the full event schedule here.

Edmonton International Jazz fest / Edmonton 
The final days of the Edmonton International Jazz Fest land on Canada Day weekend, making a great kickoff to your Canada Day plans this year, with June 30 featuring the EJO meets ESO big band extravaganza.
