Grande North Winter Festival

NEW FOR 2022! Grande Prairie's first annual Grande North Winter Festival features ice carving, DJ skate parties, live bands, horse-drawn wagon rides, crokicurl and other winter activities across the city.


Events are all-ages, and include both free and paid events. Check individual event info below. Locations include Bonnetts Energy Centre, H.A. Rice Plaza, Montrose Cultural Centre and Muskoseepi Park.

Bonnetts Energy Centre

Ice Garden with Ice Bar and Beer Gardens, H.A. Rice Plaza

Grab your toques and mittens and enjoy specially crafted beverages outside at the Grande North Ice Garden located on the H.A. Rice Plaza at Bonnetts Energy Centre.

Ice Carving Competition, located in the Ice Garden
January 14-16, 3:00 - 9:00 p.m.
$10 at the door (or included with your purchase of a concert or GP Storm Ticket)

Watch world-class ice carvers in action as they sculpt stunning ice creations. Sculptors from Ide on Whyte will be at the Grande North Winter Festival. Their sculptures will be on display following the festival display until they melt. Admission is free to view the sculptures after the festival, paid tickets available to watch the competition in action as part of the entrance to the Ice Garden. 
 



Grande North Winter Festival Concerts

$29 + tax & fees
Doors: 7:00 p.m., shows start at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets include access to the outdoor Ice Gardens at Bonnetts Energy Centre. Enjoy full food and beverage services outside in Grande Prairie’s first Ice Gardens featuring ice sculptures and ice bar.

Grande Prairie Storm Games

January 14 & 15
Cost: $0-$46

The Grande Prairie Storm is taking on the Lloydminster Bobcats in back-to-back games on January 14 at 7 p.m. and January 15 at 6 p.m. In true Canadian fashion come cheer on the GP Storm at Bonnetts Energy Centre. Don’t forget to check out the Ice Bar, Beer Garden and Ice Carving in-between periods!

Skating Oval 
Grab your skates and helmets and enjoy this classic outdoor activity. While you’re there join in the nostalgia of warming up beside one of the fire pits!

Crokicurl 
If you’ve never heard of Crokicurl, you are going to want to bring the family down to try this game out! It is a combination of crokinole and curling, curling rocks will be provided just be sure to bundle up for this outdoor activity.

Ice Slide
Enjoy this fun and frosty activity as a part of the Grande North Winter Festival, including a glowing ice slide! Come try it out.

Aurora Skate with Live DJ 
Muskoseepi Park Pond

Get lost under the stars! The skating pond at Muskoseepi park will transform into a winter wonderland with lights in the evening sky. Be sure to bring your own skates and helmets to enjoy skating on the pond while a live DJ plays music. DJ will be there playing music during these times: 

  • January 14 | 3:00 - 9:00 p.m.
  • January 15 | 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • January 16 | 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Horse and Wagon Rides

Take in Muskoseepi Park by horse and wagon rides during the Grande North Winter Festival! The festival has partnered with the Peace Draft Club to bring this unique experience to the park. Each tour will last approximately 10 minutes.
