The sunniest festival ready days are upon Alberta as we head into August and there is a stacked lineup of events happening across this beautiful province that you are not going to want to miss out on.

Mud or music, we’ve got something to tickle your fancy this month and are sure that you will be making memories that leave you wanting more! 

Here are eight of the festivals coming to Alberta this August.

August 2 - 6: Rock’n August, St Albert

Classic cars and live music take over St Albert for four days in a massive event that sees over 50,000 attendees, making it one of Alberta’s largest events.

August 4 - 7: Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Edmonton

The spotlight is on folk music in Edmonton from August 4 - 7 for 4 days of musical celebration including stars such as Lord Huron, The War on Drugs, Orville Peck, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Larkin Poe, Allison Russell, and Katie Pruitt.

August 11 - 14: Extreme Mudfest, Bonnyville

Relive your childhood with cooler tools in this epic mudding event featuring hip-hop and rock concerts in the evening after a day of mud and fun!

August 12 - 14: Kananaskis Whitewater Festival, Kananaskis Country

Paddle until your heart's content at this three-day all-things-whitewater festival. Register for advanced, intermediate or beginner kayak events. Or, take a stand-up paddle boarding lesson among other activities.

August 14: Marda Gras Street Festival, Calgary

Calgary's annual New Orleans themed, family-friendly street festival fills the street with live music, entertainment, street performers, art, bicycles, and a kids quarter. 

August 19 - 21: Edmonton Blues Festival, Edmonton

Some of the best blues artists and bands in the world are coming to Edmonton for a weekend of blues and soul enriching music with this one-of-a-kind lineup.

August 20: Paddle the Peace, Peace River

Take to the river on August 20 for a day of canoes, paddleboards and kayaks with a complementary racers' lunch, live entertainment, door prizes, and a day of fun on the water.

August 26 & 27: Castle Mountain Huckleberry Festival, Castle Mountain

Come to Castle Mountain's Annual Huckleberry Festival to enjoy music and entertainment and ride the chairlift for some of the best huckleberry picking around.

August is a month of sun and heat, but don’t let that discourage you from enjoying festival season to its fullest as August is one of the busiest months for festivals and events in BC. Festival season doesn’t end with the summer though and we will continue to bring you exciting events to sink your teeth into year round.
