The Kananaskis Whitewater Festival promises a rollicking good time. The festival attracts whitewater enthusiasts from all walks of life from beginner to pros and young to old.

Location: Kananaskis Country, Alberta

Paddle until your heart's content at this three-day all-things-whitewater festival. Register for advanced, intermediate or beginner kayak events. Or, take a stand-up paddle boarding lesson among other activities.

There will be various activities for you to enjoy from courses and races to inflatables, auctions, prizes, music, friends, and of course paddling.

There will not be food or beverages on-site from the festival organizers, so pack accordingly.

Here's a sampling of some of the weekend's activities, divided into events for juniors, beginners, intermediates, advanced, men, women, and stand-up paddle boarding.

  • Events include the ball race, downriver race, boater cross, Freestyle Rodeo, Surf Off and Survivor Kananaskis.
  • Kayak clinics for beginners to advanced playboaters
  • Stand-up paddle boarding clinics for beginners (on the lake) and some aimed at whitewater kayakers who want to try a board in the river
  • Demo boats will be on hand from local paddling shops.

Kanfest is Kananaskis' annual all-things-whitewater festival and takes place at Canoe Meadows west of Calgary in Kananaskis country. 

You can grab directions on Google to plan your trip to the 2022 Kanfest on August 11 - 13.
