Bring 2024 in with a roar: go to shows for health, happiness


Dancing in the snow with the biggest, red-cheeked grin I can remember having in months, it hit me. DJ duo SkiiTour was exploding the grounds at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton during The Style Experience, and I was shocked into remembering how good it feels to just dance, anywhere, to good music.

Heading into 2024, some festival dates and early bird ticket sales are already being released. And as if you needed a reason to start lining up your tickets and passes for the 2024 festival season, here's another: 

Going to shows is good for your health.

Going to concerts can add as many as nine years to your life, suggests a now widely quoted study by Patrick Fagan, reported in NME. The study even puts “fortnightly gig attendance” as having greater wellness benefits than yoga or dogwalking (at 21%, and 10%, respectively).
