The much anticipated return to festival season is finally upon us! We have pulled together a list of some of the best music festivals, comedy festivals and food festivals in Alberta and BC for summer 2022 so you can spend less time planning and more time living it up at these great festivals.

Upcoming Music Festivals


Sled Island Music & Arts Festival, Calgary, AB 

June 22 - 26
Running since 2007, the Sled Island Music & Arts Festival brings together music, comedy, film, and art for over 40,000 attendees across over 30 venues throughout the city. No matter where you are in Calgary you will be sure to be entertained during this week long festival.


Laketown Shakedown, Cowichan Valley, BC 

June 30 - July 2
Lake Cowichan comes to life for Canada day weekend with a wide range of musical genres. If you are looking for your first festival of the year, or maybe your first one ever, this is a great place to start!


Bass Coast Electronic Music & Arts Festival, Merritt, BC

July 8 - 11
The Bass Coast Festival is an annual boutique of art and music that takes place on the picturesque traditional land of Nłeʔkepmx and Syilx.
 

 

Vancouver Folk Music Festival - Vancouver, BC.

July 15 - 17
For three days, Jericho Beach Park will be transformed into a musical amphitheater bringing traditional and contemporary folk and roots music from around the world to Vancouver.

Merritt Rockin' River Country Music Fest - Merritt, BC.

July 28 - 31
The Rockin' River Music Fest is in Merritt, B.C. — Canada's Country Music Capital. Four days of epic music, friends, games and hanging by the river. Get excited about the Rockin’ River Music fest with FestivalSeekers.

 

Squamish Constellation Festival - Squamish, BC.

July 22 - 24
The Squamish Constellation Festival is a unique festival with a very inclusive community focus that welcomes and celebrates all ages, genders, and cultures.

Shambhala Music Festival - Salmo River Ranch, BC.

July 22 -25
As grassroots as they come. The Shambhala Music Festival is dedicated to quality production and does not take any corporate sponsorship so that it can remain a true reflection of the people on the dance floor. This festival experience is truly unique and should be on your bucket list this summer.

 

Big Valley Jamboree - Camrose, AB.

July 28 - 31
This country music festival will get you out of the big city and into the parts of Alberta less traveled. With star artists such as Tim Mcgraw, Trace Adkins, Eric Church and more, you will not be disappointed making the trip for this show.
 

Edmonton Folk Music Festival - Edmonton, AB.

August 4 - 7
Folk Music takes over Edmonton for this four-day event and will turn Gallagher Park into an amphitheater that will be heard all the way in downtown Edmonton.

 

Salmon Arms ROOTS & BLUES Festival -  Salmon Arm, BC.

August 18 - 21
The Roots & Blues festival combines world class music with awe-inspiring landscapes in a relaxing and fun atmosphere in Salmon Arm, BC.
 

Rifflandia Festival - Victoria, BC.

September 15 - 18
This four-day multi-venue musical extravaganza is held at the Royal Athletic Park and sees huge artists such as Arkells, X Ambassadors, and The Head and the Heart. This festival is returning for the first time since 2016 so a big lineup is expected.

Upcoming Comedy Festivals

 

Just for Laughs Vancouver - Vancouver, BC.

May 25 - 29
Just for Laughs is back in Vancouver for one of Western Canada’s biggest comedy festivals and will feature over 30 shows and star comedians such as Trevor Noah and Ronny Chieng. This intimate and unique approach to a comedy festival is sure to leave your sides hurting from laughter.

 

FunnyFest Calgary Comedy Festival - Calgary, AB.

June 2 - 12
This unique comedy festival brings competitors from across Canada to compete for laughs and big cash prizes with 2 headliner comedians at the end of each night of performances to round out the evening.

Port Moody Ribfest - Port Moody, BC.

July 15 - 17
This annual 3 day event brings together local food vendors, live music, and an endless list of activities to fill in your time between racks of ribs and concerts.
